Congratulations to Jim Craig — 1980 USA Hockey Team Goalie and ACM Wealth’s Keynote Speaker
We are proud to recognize Jim Craig, goaltender for the legendary 1980 U.S. Olympic Hockey Team and keynote speaker at our upcoming ACM Wealth Planning Conference this June.
Jim and his 1980 teammates are now one step closer to receiving the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian honor awarded by the United States. Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed the Miracle on Ice Congressional Gold Medal Act, which now awaits approval by the Senate.
The Congressional Gold Medal is reserved for individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions to the nation. The 1980 “Miracle on Ice” team captured America’s heart with its improbable victory over the Soviet Union, symbolizing resilience, teamwork, and national pride.
Notable past recipients of this prestigious award include:
- General Ulysses S. Grant – for his leadership during the Civil War
- John Glenn – astronaut and U.S. senator
- The Wright Brothers – pioneers of aviation
- Thomas Edison – inventor and innovator
- Jesse Owens – track and field star of the 1936 Olympics
- The Navajo Code Talkers – for their crucial role in World War II communications
